How does Hatched work?
Hatched is a new, innovative, personality-based dating app that uses a proprietary method to matchmaking. Users' photos are hidden by an egg avatar (users' choose their egg avatar at sign-up or through Account Settings) and complete profile details are withheld. Only by answering Personality, Attitude, Lifestyle & Core Value questions (PAVL) similar to their matches (or eggs, as we call them), will users begin to see their match's photo and profile details. Once users and their matches answer 4-questions similarly, they will be a fully hatched match and will be able to see each other's complete photo, profile details, will be able to chat, knowing they have 4-personality traits in common. Essentially, Hatched is changing the criteria of traditional matchmaking on dating apps from "swiping on pictures" to establishing personality similarities.
How do I hatch?
When you receive a New Egg, review the bio information available. If you want to proceed with that egg, click the hatch icon button (or flip the card) and answer the PAVL question that was assigned to that match. If your match answers the same, the bottom 25% of both of your eggs will hatch and you each will be able to see the bottom 25% of each other’s photo. Answer another question similarly to get to 50%, another one to get to 75% and then one last question to get to 100%. Once you've answered 4-questions the same with your match, you'll see their entire photo (+ additional photos, their complete bio) and will be able to chat.
How are questions assigned to each match?
PAVL questions are pulled randomly from our database of professionally-generated multiple-choice questions. Hatched features a database of over 700 (and growing) PAVL questions that was developed by a team of professional familial counselors. Each question answered similarly indicates a certain level of compatibility and provides users with a solid foundation to build off of.
How long will matches stay in my Egg Carton before they expire?
3-days. You and your match will have 3-days to fully hatch before they leave your Egg Carton. You’ll see a countdown clock appear when there’s 6-hours left on a match. Once you and your match are Fully Hatched, you'll have 3-days to chat before that match expires (the 3-day expiration clock will reset every time a message is sent).
How often will I receive New Eggs?
Everyday. Every night at midnight, you’ll receive up to 10 New Eggs by default. After hatching all your New Eggs for the day, you’ll see a countdown clock on your New Eggs screen that refers to the time left until your next batch (you might also periodically receive New Eggs throughout the day as new users sign up for Hatched). You can also purchase more New Eggs by using your Yolks (more on this below).
How does Hatched determine who my New Eggs are?
Hatched uses a proprietary algorithm that implements bio detail and previous answers to PAVL questions to generate New Eggs for that user. Hatched’s algorithm is constantly learning and, thus, is able to curate higher quality matches to users with each PAVL question that a user answers.
What if I don't answer a question similarly to my match, but I still want to proceed with that match?
If a user doesn't answer the same as their match but they still want to proceed with that egg, they will have the ability to Egg On. If both users decide to Egg On, that match will advance to the next hatching tier. Both users have to Egg On for it to activate and users are only able to Egg On 3x per day.
What bio details are available at each hatching tier for my matches?
Hatched's mission is to build meaningful and substantive matches for it's users and we feel strongly that the right to see a users' entire profile details should be earned, not given. Similar to meeting someone in real life, people organically acquire more information about one another as they engage & build rapport. Thus, and to replicate this experience, Hatched only provides limited profile details about a user initially, and withholds additional info. until users earn the right to see it (by hatching). Here's what's available at each hatching level:
1. 0% Hatched - Age, Location, Gender, Ethnicity, Religions, Kids
2. 25% Hatched - Bio, Adjeggtives, Hobbies, Prompts
3. 50% Hatched - Educational Details (level + college), Professional Details (Job Title, Employer)
4. 100% Hatched - Full Photo, Additional Photos, Ability to Chat
What is Golden Egg?
After answering 5-questions, you'll receive a Golden Egg. A Golden Egg is fully hatched match of someone who's most compatible with you based on how you answered the previous questions. You'll be able to see that person's complete profile & full photos and can chat with them right away.
What are Yolks?
Yolks are our in-app currency that users can use to purchase premium features.
What premium features can Yolks get me?
The following features are available for purchase with Yolks:
1) More New Eggs - Get 6 more New Eggs immediately.
2) Super Hatched - See someone's complete profile, full photos and be able to chat with them right away.
3) Golden Egg - After answering 50-questions, receive a fully hatched match of someone who's most compatible with you based on how you answered the previous question. You can see that person's complete profile & full photos and can chat with them right away.
3) Egg On - Continue hatching with someone even if you don't answer a question the same.
4) Nudge - Send someone a notification to hatch back with you if you're waiting on them to answer.
5) Extend Expiring Matches - Keep a match that's about to expire available for another 3-days.
6) View Read Receipts - Know exactly when your fully hatched matches read your messages.
7) No Ads - Enjoy an ad-free experience.
How often do I get Yolks? How can I get more?
Users get 100 Free Yolks after signing up for Hatched. From there, users receive 100 Yolks after their first successful 25% hatch. Users can also purchase bundles of Yolks; Yolks are available in 100, 750, 2000 & 5000 bundle options. Additionally, users receive 500 free Yolks per every referral who signs up for Hatched using that user's unique invite link (users' unique invite link can be found in "Account"---> "Invite Friends & Earn".
